The four images from The Red Day were accidentally produced for my ongoing documentary photo project The New Chinatown Archive. During the Chinese New Year, I was fascinated by the visually familiar yet emotionally awkward hustle and bustle on the streets in Manhattan Chinatown. The sudden blurry vision happened to me on the streets, yet the camera captures the concrete reality by itself. Later, I decided to cover the original photographs with abstract color blocks as a means to echo that complex layers of sensation aroused during the holiday.
